Nansian: Teras still alive and kicking
KUCHING: There is no truth to reports that Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) has been dissolved.
Teras acting president Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie refuted the report and stressed the party is conducting its business as usual.
“To say that the party has been dissolved is a mistake. Actually we are still very much alive and kicking, and the only thing that people don’t see is because we are silent supporters of Barisan Nasional ( BN),” Nansian told a press conference yesterday.
It has been reported that Teras was dissolved in May last year.
Nansian said the party would continue to support BN as a BN-friendly party, and try to accommodate those who wish to be part of BN but declined to be members of “mainstream” political parties.
“We will continue what we have been doing before, which is truly supporting our BN government and especially our new Chief Minister
To say that the party has been dissolved is a mistake. Actually we are still very much alive and kicking, and the only thing that people don’t see is because we are silent supporters of Barisan Nasional (BN). Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie, Teras acting president
( Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg) and the entire cabinet,” he said, adding that Teras welcomed new members.
Nansian said Teras would hold its triennial general assembly before September to elect office– bearers.
He added that Teras supports and trusts Abang Johari to deliver policies such as the digital economy and infrastructure development including the light rail transit ( LRT) project to help spur development in the state.
Nansian also lauded the setting up of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research, which would help to address the declining standard of English in the state, and improve school infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.
He added that the setting up of the Development Bank of Sarawak ( DBOS) also augured well for the development of the state.
Meanwhile, Nansian said Abang Johari is scheduled to launch the Borneo Tribal Village in Kampung Apar Singai on July 1, to coincide with the Borneo Tribal Fest, Gawai Dayak and Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
