Curtin signs MoU with industry partners
MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia signed memorandums of understanding with industry partners Keysight Technologies and Sirim Measurements Technology during the recent Curtin Malaysia IEEE Digital Maker Expo.
In a press statement, Curtin Malaysia pro vice- chancellor, president and chief executive Professor Jim Mienczakowski said the MoUs marked yet another milestone in building critical alliances with industry partners.
He added the MoUs are also symbolic of Curtin’s commitment to providing industry- connected innovative teaching and research to develop internationally focused graduates who are committed to excellence.
Present to witness the exchange were Keysight Technologies general manager Lee Choon Seng and chief executive officer Chew Teck Ming, as well as Sirim Measurements Technology director for corporate services Hanita Ibrahim.
The two-day expo attracted over 800 visitors, the majority of them students of secondary schools here.
Organised by the Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineers ( IEEE) Curtin Malaysia Student Branch, the expo aimed to promote engineering, science and technology.
Themed ‘Inspiring Innovators for Digital Nation’, it offered visitors the opportunity to learn more about technologies such as 3D printing, robotics, embedded systems, and programming.
“In this digital era, industries are in great need of technologicallysavvy talents that can help enhance the quality of life in the future,” said Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who officiated at the closing ceremony.
