Bintulu Town Run promotes environment, health, harmony
BINTULU: Registration for Bintulu Town Run on July 16 is still open for members of the public.
The event, jointly organised by Bintulu Resident’s Office and Bintulu Runners Club under the theme ‘Go Green, Go Healthy and Go Harmony’, aims to promote a healthy, clean environment and further strengthen racial harmony.
Runners will enjoy the beautiful scenery along Tanjung Batu Beach as the 6km event starts from Wisma Bintulu to Tanjung Batu Coastal Road.
From the coastal road they will make a U-turn at Pantai ABF intersection and back to Wisma Bintulu.
Bintulu Resident Muhammad Yakup Kari welcomed partnerships with any youth organisations in organising sports events and healthy activities.
“I believe that the young people should be given the opportunity and a platform to showcase their ideas and creativity which can benefit society,” he said during a meeting with the organising committee at the Bintulu Resident’s Office yesterday.
Bintulu Runners Club chairwomen Shirley Ting expressed her gratitude towards the relevant government agencies and for sponsorship from Progressive Democratic Party, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party, Park City Everly Hotel, MOMA Water Sdn Bhd, PowerHouz Gym and Fitness, Bintulu Resident’s Office, Harbour- Link Group Berhad, Triple Strength Sdn Bhd, Skin Beauty, Shenny Physiotheraphy Centre, Oil Town Sdn Bhd, Parkcity Mall, Bintulu Development Authority and Voltronic Schmierstoffe Deutschland.
Registration fee for nonmembers is RM50 per person and RM30 for club members.
Each participant will receive a T-shirt or singlet and a fi nisher medal. The fi rst 1,000 registered runners will receive a mystery gift as well as a on- the- spot printed photo.
Runners from outside Bintulu will receive a special offer from Park City Everly Hotel and only need to show their registration receipt upon check-in.
Bintulu Runners Club will set up a booth at Park City Mall Bintulu from June 2- 4 from 11am to 9pm.
