KUCHING: Batu Kawah will see more development and affordable housing in the next five years to benefit its constituents.

We are solving the issues one by one. First we improve the road condition and now we are focusing on street lighting and drainage.

Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said his team is working to solve all infrastructure problems here.

“We are solving the issues one by one. First we improve the road condition and now we are focusing on street lighting and drainage,” he said during one of his Gawai visits to community leaders here yesterday.

“Batu Kawah will have more affordable housing programmes for low and middle classes. Hopefully in the next one or two years, we can launch some of these programmes for those from different income groups,” Dr Sim said.

According to Dr Sim, who is also Minister of Local Government and Housing, these programmes will not only benefit Batu Kawah constituents, but the whole of Kuching.

He said it was about time to bring much needed development to people in Batu Kawah, which had been under the opposition party.

“We want bigger support in the upcoming parliamentary election so we can get more allocations to develop this area.”

Dr Sim said SUPP councillors were open to dialogues with local community leaders to hear their problems.

Also present were Dr Sim’s wife Datin Enn Ong, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang and community leaders.
