KOTA SAMARAHAN: Almost RM5 million was spent last year to implement Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR) in the Batang Sadong parliamentary area.

According to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, the budget which was allocated by the government has been spent on 97 supply and construction projects.

“Out of the 97 projects, 57 are in the form of supply and while the other 40 projects are construction projects. Development of my area has always been my priority,” she said during an event to give out aids and donation held at Masjid Darul Iman in Sadong Jaya yesterday.

Among the projects implemented using the PMR funds were the renovation or upgrading of mosques and suraus, construction of new buildings and halls, and the supplying of building materials for schools in Batang Sadong parliamentary constituency.

Nancy, who is Batang Sadong MP, disclosed that almost all of the projects implemented under the PMR had been completed.

“One of the reasons why I revealed how much was spent for the PMR projects in my area is so that my people would know how the money (budget) was spent. I hope they would understand,” she said.

At the event, a total of 307 people comprising orphans, single mothers, the disabled and the needy were presented with contributions in conjunction with Ramadan. Apart from that, a total of 12 mosques and suraus in Sadong Jaya District also received donations from Nancy.

Also present at the event was Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo.

According to a press statement, a total of RM1.6 million was allocated for PMR in Simunjan, while Sadong Jaya received RM1.2 million and Gedong, RM1.7 million, in allocations.

Meanwhile, the Ramadan contributions presented came from P200 Sadong Jaya and National Aerospace Defence Industries Sdn Bhd (NADI), totalling RM15,500.
