Majma Raya Fes expected to be state’s biggest Aidilfitri shopping hub

-

KUCHING: Majma Raya Fes 2.0 is poised to be the state’s biggest Aidilfitri shopping hub this year, with over 200 entrepreneurs selling everything you would need for Raya.

It is located at Majma Mall and its compound at Jalan P Ramlee and was officially launched by Chief Minister’s wife Datin Amar Dato Jumaani Tuanku Bujang yesterday.

Last year’s event attracted 146 entrepreneurs. The increase in number this year showed the trust people have in the efforts made by Tabung Baitumal Sarawak in organising Majma Raya Fes 2.0.

“It is the policy of the government to develop entrepreneurs, especially micro entrepreneurs made up of young people and single mothers. We hope that they will take advantage of any opportunity to develop themselves,” said Jumaani.

After officiating at the event, Jumaani took a tour of the booths, accompanied by Sarawak Islamic Council president Dato Misnu Taha.

Majma Raya Fes 2.0 began on May 27 and will run until June 24. Apart from great deals, there will also be six competitions.

On June 10, there will be a Ketupat Weaving competition and a Pulut Kuning Decorating competition.

On June 11 there will be an Ikatan Sampin competition, a Kids Raya Costume competition, and a Raya Make-up competition.

There will also be stage activities such as busking and fashion shows by Sarawakian entrepreneurs; as well as religious activities such as ‘Usrah Hijrah Hijab’ and and Malaysia Quran Hours over at the Majma Mall Surau.
