TNB lifts Bursa Malaysia to end higher

while IOI and Telekom rose three sen to RM4.55 and RM6.55, respective­ly.

Top weighted Maybank, meanwhile, slipped one sen to RM9.58.

Market breadth was however ended negative, with decliners outpacing gainers 547 to 342, while 358 counters were unchanged, 580 untraded and 29 others suspended.

Volume shrank to 2.30 billion units valued at RM2.62 billion from the 2.48 billion units valued at RM2.64 billion on Monday.

A dealer said share prices on Bursa rebounded at mid-morning despite regional marts slipped amid geopolitic­al tension in the Middle East, but some players turned cautious near midday as news on boardroom tussle at Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) heated up.

FGV’s share price tumbled after lunch break to as low as RM1.51, led top active list with an 11 sen decline to end at RM1.62 with 96.74 million shares transacted.

Other actives, China Automobile was flat at half-a-sen, XingQuan added two sen to four sen, Anzo edged up 1.5 sen to 25.5 sen, while Hibiscus flat at 47.5 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index shed 8.35 points to 12,742.95, the FBMT100 Index eased 8.16 points to 12,383.12, while the FBM Emas Shariah Index advanced 4.96 points to 12,938.35.

The FBM Ace edged up 49.26 points to 6,341.40 but FBM 70 declined 120.03 points to 15,101.11.

On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index declined 32.46 points to 16,862.42, the Plantation Index trimmed 8.02 points to 7,951.16, while the Industrial Index slipped 9.97 points to 3,301.87.

Main Market turnover decreased to 1.55 billion units worth RM2.49 billion from 1.56 billion units worth RM2.47 billion on Monday.

Volume on the ACE Market declined to 400.98 million units valued at RM87.96 million from 559.32 million units valued at RM115.15 million.

Warrants shrank to 337.19 million units worth RM30.23 million from 559.32 million units valued at RM115.15 million previously.

Consumer products accounted for 162.89 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products ( 373.25 million), constructi­on ( 110.83 million), trade and services (478.09 million), technology (58.30 million), infrastruc­ture ( 6.76 million), SPAC (8.57 million), finance (94.47 million), hotels ( 300,300), properties ( 147.82 million), plantation­s ( 104.14 million), mining (0), REITs (8.52 million), and closed/fund (0).
