Lau says to wrest back Sibu for BN in GE14

-

SIBU: Sibu BN Parliamentary Liaison Committee chairman Robert Lau Hui Yew said he has been entrusted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to win back the Sibu parliamentary seat in the coming 14th General Election.

Lau said this was the advice given to the participants of the BN leadership training camp held in Pahang which was participated by 28 delegates from Sarawak BN, including four from SUPP.

“Hopefully, the people here will heed the call and work hard to wrest back Sibu seat for BN,” he said at the SUPP Sibu dinner gathering held here last Friday.

During the training camp, Lau said the BN had also set the goal of keeping the existing 132 seats while at the same time, winning another 34 seats.

“In Sarawak, the aim is to wrest back five of the six parliamentary seats the party lost to DAP in the last election.”

Lau reminded party members to work hard and he believed that together, they could make things happen.

On the Sibu parliamentary seat, he listed out Pelawan (one of the three state seats under Sibu) as a grey area which they must put more efforts to win back the hearts and minds of the voters.

“If we can win back 500 to 1,000 votes in the Pelawan area, then we should be able to win the Sibu seat,” he added.

Lau also refuted the claim by opposition members that only BN-Umno had the final say when it comes to decision making.

‘This is not true and the most recent evidence when the elected representatives from the BN coalition parties opposed the passing of the RUU355 and when Umno listened.”
