Muara Tuang a special place for Tanjong Datu assemblywoman

-

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Muara Tuang will always have a special place in the heart of Tanjong Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu.

This is because the state constituency is the place where her late husband Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem began his active political career.

Adenan, the state’s fifth chief minister, served as Muara Tuang assemblyman for 28 years (19782006) before moving to Tanjong Datu. He passed away on Jan 11 this year.

Jamilah was named the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Tanjong Datu by-election in Feb 18 and won the seat.

“I will never forget Muara Tuang because this is where Tok Nan first became a YB (elected representative). I know he loved this place and would not miss the opportunity to come here and give away contributions to the needy.

“You know better what he had contributed. Therefore as the Perkim (Malaysian Muslim Welfare Organisation) Kota Samarahan chairperson, I would always come here and continue his good work,” she spoke at the presentation of Raya goodies at the civic centre here yesterday.

Jamilah also said the people’s love for Adenan had inspired and motivated her to work for the betterment of the community and the state. Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang was also present at the event yesterday.
