Lee urges more corporate citizens to help the needy
MIRI: Corporate companies and individuals are urged to get involved in programmes to help less fortunate members of the community, especially during this Ramadan month.
Assistant Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shim said corporate citizens could carry out charitable programme as one of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
“We see a lot of corporate bodies carrying out charitable programmes in the month of Ramadan, we hope that the number will continue to increase and help lessen the burden of the needy,” he said.
He was speaking at the launching of Kolej Komuniti Bakti 2.0 Programme here yesterday.
Lee noted there are individuals and families who are in need of donation and assistances from those who could afford, especially to prepare for the coming of Syawal.
He also praised corporate bodies and private agencies collaborating with Kolej Komuniti Miri and contributing to charity.
“The collaboration between Kolej Komuniti and agencies or corporate bodies in providing fund to charity programmes, should be an example for others to follow,” he said.
Touching on the programme, Lee said it was in line with the Ramadan month where people are encouraged to share happiness and help lessen the burden of the less fortunate members of the community.
The programme included contributions to poor families and students from poor families as well as preparation and distribution of bubur lambuk.
At the same function, Lee presented a RM5,000 minor rural project (MRP) grant to Kolej Komuniti Miri.
Also present were Kolej Komuniti Miri director Fadil Aziz; deputy academic director Nurhaiza Abdul Wahad and community leader Pemanca Abang Mohamad Datuk Seri Abang Othman.
