- June 11, 2017

SIBU: Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Service (Cuepacs) Sarawak appreciates the government’s announcement on Hari Raya AidilFitri special financial assistance of RM500, while calling on civil servants to use the money wisely.

According to the recent Bernama report, the government had agreed to provide a special financial assistance of RM500 to nearly 1.6 million civil servants in preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

State Cuepacs president Ahmad Malie said they were thankful especially to the Prime Minister for lightening the burden of the civil servants.

“Cuepacs hopes that civil servants will make use of the money wisely as a sign of appreciation on the assistance given. Civil servants in particular, those celebrating Hari Raya AidilFitri, are reminded to be prudent and avoid from spending beyond their means. Although the financial assistance appears small in amount, but if we plan our spending wisely, it will surely lessen our burden in our preparation for this year’s celebration,” Ahmad said yesterday.

On another matter, Ahmad, who is also Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers Union (KGBS) president, advised those returning home for the festive celebration to take extra care while on the road.

He pointed out particularly in Sarawak, where the government is constructing the Pan Borneo Highway for the comfort of the people in future, it is feared that this might cause congestion and a challenge throughout the journey.

“We advise road users to be careful at all times so that they will arrive at their destination safely,” he said.
