Platform to venture into internatio­nal trade soon

SIBU: The Ministry of Internatio­nal Trade and E-Commerce will provide a platform for talented youths in Sarawak to venture into internatio­nal trade.

Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh said there were many hidden talents among the youths that needed to be unearthed.

Speaking to reporters during the AGE Convention yesterday, Wong who is also the Second Finance Minister said the successful hosting of the AGE event proved that local youths were creative and innovative.

“Yes, there are many hidden talents in our midst. I’d say there are many ‘Jack Ma’ among our young people. So we shall create many more Jack Ma through this platform. This is what my ministry is committed to for the future of Sarawak.”

Wong described the AGE Convention held in Sibu last weekend as a platform for creativity and innovation.

In future, the state government would commit fully in e-commerce, providing youths opportunit­ies in internatio­nal trade.

Meanwhile, Wong received three stitches on his forehead after he fell on the stairs in his house in Kuching last Tuesday morning.

Wong said he had obtained a copy of a local newspaper that morning, and he was reading it as he walked down the stairs.

“I missed a step, fell down and hit my head against a rail. I received three stitches for the injuries. I am okay now.”
