Talent contest to groom superstars
KUCHING: Rock Your Talent 2017 – Sarawak Star Search aims to groom its top three winners into superstars.
Organised by Emart and coorganised by Soul Dance Studio, Gen Education Group, Woooha Media, the competition seeks exciting stage talents from across Sarawak.
Soul Dance Studio director and CEO Decole Yang said there will be ongoing engagement with winners to ensure they continue practising their talents.
“We believe in continuity and want to create a platform that allow us to do that,” he told a press conference yesterday.
While organisers expect the majority of participants to have an inclination for music, singing or dance, any type of talent that can be developed for stage performance is welcome.
“Even magic or public speaking. It has to be something that can entertain an audience,” he said.
Registration is RM20 per person and participants can sign up as a solo act (RM20) or as a group with a maximum of five members (RM20 x 5).
The first 100 to sign up will get a free gift.
Yang and Miss Malaysia Noble Queen International 2016 Nina Carron Kho will be the main judges.
They will be joined by different judges, made up of internationally or nationally renowned artistes from Sarawak, in each town or city for the audition.
The Rock Your Talent 2017 promo tour started at Emart Batu Kawah yesterday and will be at Emart Matang today.
On June 14, the team will head to Sri Aman, followed by Sibu (June 15), Bintulu (June 16), Emart Tudan, Miri (June 17), and Emart Riam, Miri (June 18).
Auditions will begin next month at Emart Batu Kawah (July 1), Emart Matang (July 8), Star Mega Mall – Daesco, Sibu (July 9), Emart Riam (July 15), Emart Tudan (July 16), and Times Square Bintulu (July 22)
A total of 30 talents will be selected for the semi-final on July 25, and 12 will move on to the grand finals in Kuching on July 29.
Those from outside Kuching will be provided with flight and accommodation.

while the remaining nine finalists will get RM500 each.
There will also be a People’s Choice Award worth RM300.
