Applications open for National Service training
SIBU: Applications for the 3rd Group of the 14th Series ‘National Service Training Programme 2.0’ for 2017 which will be held at Junaco Park National Service Training Programme Camp are now being received.
According to a press statement, the programme will commence from Sept 30 until Nov 28.
The eight-week programme will also include eight new modules, namely Fit4life, Service Learning, iUpgrade, Malaysiaku, Be Safe + Be Alert, Tech + Talk, myFuture and Learning Environment.
The Fit4life module involves outdoor camping within the national service camp and building confidence as well as leadership skills via intensive physical activities. The Service Learning module will see the trainees involved with directed projects and learning plus one week of direct community service.
Meanwhile, the iUpgrade module involves physical and non-physical activities which will teach trainees core values as well as the consistent practice of fitness for life while the modules of Malaysiaku and Be Safe + Be Alert are to impart an understanding of threats to national and personal safety.
The Tech + Talk module aims to further strengthen interpersonal and communication skills in English and Malay with elements of IT professional development while the myFuture module involves aptitude testing and career counselling as well as phased exposure to entrepreneurship skills and certifiable technical skills.
Finally, the Learning Environment module involves the practise of spirituality, creating a positive and safe environment as well as environmentalism awareness and practice.
The new Integrated Learning Programme focuses on key values that develop character and soft skills plus certified technical skills training courses.
Meanwhile, those interested to join the ‘National Service Training Programme 2.0’ must be born between 1996 to 1999, be a Malaysian citizen, have Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) qualifications, be fit and free from any health problems as well as interested to attend skills training in technical areas at selected accredited training centres.
The training period is between three to 36 months depending on the technical skills modules and certificate levels offered to the trainees.
