SUPP branches to mark Sarawak Day with ‘722 Run For Sarawak’

MIRI: Five Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) branches here will celebrate this year’s Sarawak Day by organising a run dubbed ‘722 Run For Sarawak’ on July 22.

Organising chairman Eric Chin said the run is jointly organised by the five SUPP branches here, namely Pujut, Piasau, Senadin, Bekenu and Lambir.

“The run, which involves a distance of 7.22 kilometers, will be flagged- off at Miri Stadium at 7.22am.

“We welcome members of the public to take part in the run, which is divided into six categories – Men’s and Women’s Open, Men’s and Women’s Veteran, as well as Family Boy and Family Girl,” he stated in a press conference at SUPP Piasau branch recently.

With a registrati­on fee of RM50 per entry, Chin said participan­ts will receive a T- shirt and medal, and stand an opportunit­y to win lucky draw prizes.

Forms can be obtained from any SUPP party branch here as well as at Brewhouse 101 at Bulatan Park Canteen, with the closing date for registrati­on on July 7.

The race pack, he pointed out, can be collected at the third floor of SUPP Piasau branch on Jul 2021 from 10am until 6pm.

On the prizes, he said the winner for the Men’s and Women’s Open will each take home a cash prize of RM1,000, followed by RM500 for second and RM300 for third.

For the Men’s and Women’s Veteran, as well as the Family Boy and Family Girl categories, Chin said each first place winner will receive RM500, while second and third place winners will receive RM300 and RM200 respective­ly.

Fourth to sixth place finishers in all six categories will be given RM100 each.

Also present at the press conference was Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin.
