Dr Teo still the best for Miri in GE14, says PKR Sarawak vice chief

MIRI: Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How, who is also state PKR vice- chairman, maintains that Miri MP Dr Michael Teo is still the best choice for the party to retain this constituency in the next general election (GE14).

“At the moment, Dr Teo is still our best choice to retain Miri – we do not have any other candidate,” he said in response to a speculation about him going to contest in Miri in the next parliamentary election.

On Thursday, See chaired a press conference at PKR Miri Operations Room which was also attended by Dr Teo, PKR Women National vice president Voon Shiak Ni, state PKR secretary Nicholas Bawin Anggat as well as several members of PKR Sarawak Leadership Council ( MPN).

See and several key leaders from the MPN were here for a work-meeting with members of PKR Miri, as well as to set up strategies and election machinery in helping their Pakatan Harapan alliance, DAP, in the Pujut byelection, of which the nomination date is this June 20.

It is learned that a recent meeting involving the leaders in Pakatan Harapan had confirmed that the Miri parliamentary seat belongs to PKR.

“Following our meeting with members of PKR Miri on Wednesday, it is very encouraging and we are ready to help DAP fight in the by- election – campaigning will start right after nomination,” said See.

On Bill Kayong’s murder case, See said the Miri High Court’s decision to release the three accused had not only disappointed the family and friends of the victim, but also the PKR.

He said Bill’s family had filed an appeal at the Appeals Court on Monday.

“Until the court makes a decision to accept or to reject the appeal, we cannot comment (on the case) as it can affect the court’s process.

“However, we leave this matter to the Court of Appeals and we pray for the best for Bill’s family so that they can remain strong,” he said.
