Orphans, senior citizens feted by Immigration Dept

-

LIMBANG: Feelings of joy and gratitude were clearly seen on the faces of 20 orphans and 10 senior citizens who received ‘duit raya’ from the Limbang Immigration Department at the recent Iftar and Ihya Ramadan function at the Pandaruan Immigration Border Post here.

The ‘duit raya’ was presented by state Immigration Department deputy director Hamfatullah Syawal Hamdan.

Also present were Limbang Immigration Department head Kalthom Ahmad, senior staff from other departments, and Immigration Department staff from the Limbang head office, Sundar, and Lawas as well as from the border posts in Tedungan, Pandaruan, Mengkalap and Merapok.

According to Kalthom, the gathering was part of the department’s social obligations in assisting the less fortunate like senior citizens and orphans who need guidance and opportunities with their lives.

She said they hoped that the donations given could help alleviate the recipients’ financial burden in buying necessities for breaking fast during Ramadan.

The function also saw the presentation of Hari Raya Aidilfitri biscuits to Immigration officers working at the entry points ( border posts) in Limbang and Lawas.

Religious programmes such as ‘tazkirah’ and ‘terawih’ as well as Maghrib and Isyak prayers were also held.
