Navy chief: Increased registration shows effectiveness of K3M application
KUALA LUMPUR: Although ‘ K3M’ ( Maritime Safety Awareness) application was only launched three months ago, the response received from the maritime community so far has been most encouraging.
This was based on the increasing number of registration for downloading the application on to the mobile phones each month following collaboration between the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency ( MMEA) .
RMN chief Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin said since it was launched on March 23, the RMN had received 490 registrations from users who downloaded the application up to April 27. As of yesterday, a total of 1,098 users comprising fishermen, seafarers and the maritime community had registered for the K3M application.
“There is an increase in the registration of users every month which shows the effectiveness of the K3M application,” he told Bernama.
Ahmad Kamarulzaman said that previously, the K3M application could only be downloaded using the android software through Play Store but presently, it could also be downloaded using the App Store for Iphone and Ipad users.
On March 23, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussin launched the K3M application in conjunction with the 2017 Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace ( LIMA) exhibition to facilitate the process of channelling information and preserving the maritime community’s wellbeing. — Bernama
