Ramadan ‘Ziarah Kasih’ programme distributes RM20.2 million in 67 parliamentary areas — Azeez
PORT DICKSON: The Ramadan ‘Ziarah Kasih’ programme to help the needy including hardcore poor tithe recipients, regardless of political ideologies, had incurred an overall expenditure of RM20.2 million.
Pilgrims Fund Board ( TH) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the programme, which was organised by TH with the co- operation of the Umno Membership and Voter Registration Bureau, would give out aid in 67 selected parliamentary areas nationwide.
“The Teluk Kemang Parliamentary area is the 48th area to hold the programme in our effort to help the people at the behest of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, namely, (a programme) to help the people.
“RM300,000 was distributed to 1,000 recipients with each receiving RM300 to ease their burden in the month of Ramadan and also Aidilfitri which is round the corner,” he told Bernama here, yesterday.
He said this when met after the programme, which was also attended by Teluk Kemang Umno Division chief and Jempol Member of Parliament, Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad.
Commenting further, Abdul Azeez, who is also Umno Supreme Council member and the Baling Member of Parliament, said all the RM20.2 million was from the Tabung Haji Foundation ( RM7 million) and Umno and the federal government ( RM13.2 million).
He said there were two categories of aid recipients in the programme, namely, hardcore poor tithe recipients and the needy. — Bernama
