Parkson’s charity Iftar Ramadan with single mothers

KUALA LUMPUR: Parkson department­al store hosted their first ‘ Majlis Iftar Ramadan’ on June 8 in conjunctio­n with Parkson’s 30th anniversar­y celebratio­n.

The event was organised together with Welfare Department for 80 single mothers and their families at Makan-Makan in Fahrenheit 88, Kuala Lumpu.

Single mothers and children aged 4 – 18 years old from 3 states namely, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan, turned up for the ‘berbuka puasa’ organised by Parkson department­al store with support from supermarke­t, Foodpark by Parkson and foodcourt, Makan-Makan by Parkson, both new additions to the Parkson family.

The event began with a welcome note from the emcees Petang Era crew Dina Nadzir and Fad Bocey, followed by speeches by Puan Sri Chelsia Cheng, chairman of Lion- Parkson Foundation and Zulkifli Ismail, deputy directorge­neral (operations), Welfare Department.

The prayer session by Fad Bocey was held before VIPs and guests broke fast with authentic Nasi Padang prepared by the chef of Makan-Makan by Parkson.

Dina Nadzir and Wany Hasrita were the celebritie­s who entertaine­d guests with their hit songs – ‘ Kaulah Segalanya’ by Dina and ‘ Terima Kasih Cinta & Menahan Rindu’ by Wany.

In her speech, Cheng said, “This year, in conjunctio­n with Parkson’s 30th anniversar­y, we are pleased to host this ‘berbuka puasa’ by Parkson department store supported by our new supermarke­t, Foodpark by Parkson and our new foodcourt, Makan-Makan by Parkson.

“Each mother is receiving RM150 worth of Parkson cash vouchers for their Raya shopping, RM100 worth of household goodies from Foodpark and tonight’s treat of Nasi Padang from Makan-Makan’s special Buka Puasa menu.

“In addition, each child tonight will receive a small goody bag from Foodpark and a school bag courtesy of Shoe Gallery by Parkson.”

The guests were serenaded by a traditiona­l gamelan musical performanc­e during ‘ berbuka puasa’ and the event closed with a lucky draw where 10 lucky mothers walked away with electrical goods from Parkson department store.

Parkson is one of the largest department store chains in Malaysia, catering to all kinds of lifestyle and lifestage.

Launched in 1987, Parkson currently operates 45 stores in Malaysia, 54 in China, 7 in Vietnam, 17 in Indonesia and 2 in Myanmar.

Makan-Makan by Parkson is a foodcourt that opened its first outlet at Fahrenheit 88, end of 2016 and its second outlet at Sunway Velocity Mall in February this year.

Foodpark Supermarke­t by Parkson, is a supermarke­t and food hall combined, currently operating its first outlet at Parkson Maju Junction Shopping Mall.

Boasting a vintage- chic ambience with a wide variety of offerings, it serves the daily gastronomi­c needs of the thousands passing through Jalan Sultan Ismail everyday.
