Three men acquitted on charge of promoting terrorism
KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here yesterday acquitted and discharged three men, including an Indonesian, on a charge of promoting terrorism.
Judicial Commissioner Datuk Abdul Karim Abdul Rahman made the decision after finding the defence by the three men – Ali Saifuddin, 30, who is an Indonesian national, Nor Azmi Jalani, 30, and Mohd Yusri Mohamed Yusof, 29, suceeded in raising reasonable doubts against the prosecution's case.
“Their testimony is always consistent. Therefore, the court acquits and discharges the three accused,” he said.
However, the court allowed a stay of their release pending an appeal by the prosecution, represented by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Nordin Ismail, as the accused were detained under the Security Offences ( Special measures) Act 2012.

There three men were charged in the Alor Setar Sessions Court on April 30, 2015 with conspiring to promote terrorism– related activities in Malaysia between January 30 and April 6 the same year at a house in Pengkalan Batu Hampar, Mukim Air Putih, Pendang.
They were charged under Section 130G(a) of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 120B(1) of the same Code, whereby they can be jailed up to 30 years and fined, if convicted.
