Dynasty Hotel Miri receives overwhelming response to charity run on July 9
MIRI: A total of 2, 250 runners have confirmed their participation in the 14th charity run event organised by the Dynasty Hotel Miri on July 9.
Organising chairperson Ho Poh Chin said the main objective is to raise funds for the needy.
“Parts of the proceeds raised from the run will be channelled to several non- governmental organisations including Association of Parents with Special Children ( Pibakis), PDK Morsjaya, Miri Dialysis Centre, Sarawak Society for the Blind Miri Branch and Home for the Aged.
“The balance will go to Dynasty Hotel Charity Fund for its annual festival goodies and other charity events,” she told reporters in a press conference yesterday.
“We have received overwhelming response. So far, 2, 250 names have been received for the event, which is beyond our expectation of 1, 800 runners,” Ho, who is also Dynasty Hotel acting general manager, said.
The charity run will be flagged off from the hotel at 6.15am.
It is divided into the 10km Men Open, 10km Women Open, 10km Men Veteran, 10km Women Veteran, 10km Junior Boy, 10km Junior Girl, 3.5 km Family Boy, 3.5km Family Girl and 3.5km Fun Run.
The top 10 winners in all categories will receive cash prizes totalling RM15, 800 and finisher medals.
Runners will also receive a tshirt, a finisher medal, waterproof bib number, drinks and other sponsored items. Collection of race pack will be on July 7 and 8 at the ground level of Dynasty Hotel from 10am to 6pm.
Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau who is also the charity run advisor was present at the press conference.
