Strive to understand Quran and apply its teachings in real life, Muslims advised

-

KUCHING: Muslims who observe the Ramadan month by reading the Quran should step it up further – by learning and understanding the true meaning behind the messages and teachings written in the Holy Book.

According to Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, reading the Quran is not only about finishing all the 114 chapters, but also about improving one’s pronunciation and proficiency in reciting the verses and more importantly, to understand the meaning behind the teachings.

“There have been many scientific findings derived from the research works on the Quran – even now, there are non-Muslims using the Quran as one of their references. For example, the Japanese are doing a research on the ‘ Zam Zam’ water (water from the Zam Zam well at the Kaabah in Mecca) by using Al- Quran as one of their references,” Fadillah said in his opening remarks at the Tilawah Al- Quran N7 Samariang 2017 event at the residence of Datuk Sharifah Mordiah Tuanku Fauzi here on Sunday night.

On research and development ( R& D), Fadillah said there are lots of things that the Quran could teach the people, including the aspect of science through which, further R& D and commercialisation realised further.

“What’s important is for one to understand (Al- Quran), to have the passion and to be willing to explore further,” he said.

Fadillah also pointed out that the younger generation of Muslims should look at how the Terengganu government is able to stand tall as a leading state in terms of academic performance, science, and even in the religious field.

“Terengganu is able to produce a large number of quality human capital – we feel that the state ( Sarawak) can learn something from them, looking at it positively.”
