Awang Tengah makes first visit as Deputy Chief Minister to Limbang
LIMBANG: Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan arrived here yesterday to a rousing welcome for his first visit since his appointment as Deputy Chief Minister despite the drizzle.
On hand to greet him were members of BN component parties, community leaders and leaders of NGOs.
Leadingthegroup ofover100were Assistant Minister of Agriculture Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Limbang MP Hasbi Habibolah and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang.
Accompanied by his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud, Awang Tengah was touched by the unexpected reception, and thanked the people of Limbang Division for their support and cooperation and said he would do his best to further their aspirations and hopes.
“Together with elected representatives Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Datuk Henry Sum Agong who is also Lawas MP, Dr Abdul Rahman, Paulus and Hasbi and community leaders from all corners of Limbang Division, we will continue to work as a team to serve the people the best we can,” he said.
Awang Tengah, who is also Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources and Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, thanked Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg for appointing him as deputy chief minister and pledged to do his best to assist ‘the captain of the state’.
He said there is much to be done to provide good infrastructure for Limbang Division to realise the true potential of agro and tourism industries in the division.
“There is great potential for agro- based development and business especially in horticulture and tourism especially with the highlands development,” he said.
“This big picture of good infrastructure, education and vibrant socio- economic growth can only be realised with from collective efforts, support and cooperation of all quarters, including from government agencies and departments,” he added.
The minister later officiated at the presentation of Raya goodies to officials of mosques and suraus, orphans, single mothers and children with special needs at Limbang mosque.
