2,000 sign up for 7th Borneo Post Run so far

SIBU: The 7th Borneo Post ( BP) Run on Aug 31 at Sibu Town Square has received no fewer than 2,000 entries so far, edging closer to the targeted number of 3,500.

See Hua Marketing senior assistant manager Kueh Nguang Seng urged those intending to take part but have not yet registered for it to do so soonest.

“The inaugural BP Run in 2011 attracted around 600 runners. The subsequent runs saw increasing number of runners.

“Last year’s run attracted 3,000 and we hope to get at least 3,500 for this year’s run,” he said.

Speaking as a member of the organising committee, Kueh said they hope to attract runners from outside Sibu as well.

“The run is open to all. It’s a community project to provide a platform for people irrespecti­ve of creed, age and race to mingle and interact,” he added.

Ladies’ Open, Boy’s and Girl’s Junior and the 5km Fun Run.

The respective champions for the Men’s and Women’s Open categories will get RM500 each, while first runners-up will receive RM350, second runners-up RM300, third runners-up RM250 and fourth runners-up will receive RM150.

Consolatio­n prizes of RM50 will be given to those placing sixth to 20th positions.

The respective champions of the Boy’s and Girl’s Junior categories will each get RM350, first runnersup will get RM300, second runnersup will get RM250, third runnersup will receive RM200 and fourth runners-up will get RM150. Those placing sixth to 60th position will each get RM30.

Meanwhile, the champion of the Fun Run category will get RM150, while the first runner-up will get RM120, second runner-up will get RM100, third runner-up will receive RM80 and the fourth runner-up will get RM60. The sixth to 90th position will each get RM20.
