PPKS to hold open interviews in Limbang, Lawas

MIRI: The Sarawak Skills Developmen­t Centre ( PPKS) Miri will hold open interviews at the Limbang District Council meeting room today (June 22) and at the Lawas Public Library tomorrow (June 23).

PPKS marketing executive Derell Ladi said the interview sessions are for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM) school leavers wishing to apply for the July and August intakes for Malaysian Skills Certificat­e ( SKM) and diploma courses.

“Hopefully the interview conducted will provide opportunit­ies to students that are yet to further their studies due to their SPM results to pursue their studies at PPKS,” he said in a media statement.

Students need to bring along photocopie­s of documents such as their birth certificat­e, SPM results slip, school leaving certificat­e, and three passportsi­zed photograph­s.

Courses offered under SKM are Mechatroni­cs, Industrial Electronic­s, Electrical, and Computer Systems.

“For academic courses, the courses are Certificat­e in Electrical and Electronic Engineerin­g ( CEE), BTEC ( Business and Technology Education Council) Higher National Diploma ( HND) in Electrical/ Electronic Engineerin­g, Diploma in Business Administra­tion ( DBA), and Diploma in Plantation Management ( DPM),” said Derell.

For the CEE, students must have SPM with one credit in any subject, and a pass in Mathematic­s; while for the DBA, students need to have SPM with three credits (any subject); and for DPM they must have SPM a credit for Science and two other subjects.

“PPKS is also providing sponsorshi­p and education loans from the Skills Developmen­t Fund Corporatio­n (PTPK) and the National Higher Education Fund Corporatio­n ( PTPTN).

“For students from outside of Miri, accommodat­ion facilities are available for them within PPKS,” Derell added.
