KANOWIT: Local members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) have been told to help their counterparts from other Barisan Nasional ( BN) component parties in the next general election.

Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong said this is to ensure BN will win Kanowit parliamentary constituency with even bigger majority.

“Our voice can be heard louder by our leaders at federal or state level if we can obtain a big majority in the election.

“PBB is the strongest party in Sarawak and therefore we should help other component parties to maintain BN’s position here,” he said when officiating at a ‘ ngiling bidai’ ceremony to mark the closing of Gawai Dayak held at Kanowit district office multipurpose hall here recently.

It was jointly organised by PBB Machan Women wing and Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) Kanowit.

Allan also thanked the government for bringing many development projects to Kanowit including Kanowit bridge which was open to the public before Gawai Dayak.

The people must use the infrastructure wisely, he said.

Meanwhile, PBB Machan chairman Datuk Gramong Juna who spoke earlier said he was optimistic that BN will win again in Kanowit in the next general election.

He said Kanowit was BN stronghold based on its track record in previous elections.

Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang won the election in 2013 with 3,042 majority against Thomas Laja from Parti Keadilan Rakyat and Ellison Ludan from Sarawak Workers Party.

He garnered 8,046 votes while Laja and Ludan obtained 5,004 and 417 votes respectively.

Among those present were Aaron and his wife Datin Rowenna Ping Bungan, PBB Machan Women chief Datuk Catherine Gramong, Kanowit District officer Katis Noel Nyabong and organising chairperson Helen Antas.

Our voice can be heard louder by our leaders at federal or state level if we can obtain a big majority in the election. PBB is the strongest party in Sarawak and therefore we should help other component parties to maintain BN’s position here. Allan Siden Gramong, Machan assemblyman
