Bamboo rafting new activity in Semadang Tagang Festival 2017
KUCHING: Bamboo rafting competition has been included as one of the activities in the upcoming third edition of Semadang Tagang Festival 2017 slated from July 28- 30.
The organising committee spokesman, Remos Jepos said only one category, that is the open category would be competed and the competition is open to both Malaysians and foreign participants above the age of 18 years and will be held on July 30 at 11 am.
“Entry to the competition is open now and the closing date will be on July 20 at 12 noon,” said Remos, adding that entries are determined on a first come, first served basis.
According to Remos, the race is approximately three kilometres long with the starting point/flag off at Ga Sa- uu in Kampung Semadang near here and the finishing point is at Kampung Semadang’s suspension bridge.
He said the competition offers cashprizeofRM800tothechampion while the first and second runners up will receive RM600 and RM400 respectively.
Besides bomboo rafting, the other activities line- up during the three- day festival are fishing competition, kayak race, Miss Tagang beauty pageant, cooking competition, music and dance, food bazaar and exhibition.

The festival is jointly organised by Kampung Semadang Development and Security Committee, Sarawak Agriculture Department and Kampung Semadang Tagang System Committee, supported and sponsored by the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and state Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture. — Bernama
