Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors unveils all-new Elantra
KUCHING: Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors ( HSDM) unveiled its allnew sixth generation Elantra yesterday, and is anticipating a good market response for the upgraded model.
Following a teaser preview last month, the all-new Elantra sets a new standard in its segment with new levels of sophistication applied to its interior and exterior, as well as a platform which delivers a new level of ride comfort with smooth, precise handling and enhanced safety.
HSDM managing director Lau Yit Mun said the car is available in three variants: 2.0 MPI Executive, 2.0 MPI Dynamic, and the Elantra Sport.
All Elantra variants are entitled to 50,000 kilometres of free service with a three-year validity.
Among the highlights of the car is the inclusion of Dynamic Precision exterior, A-Pillar design and attention to detail interior, two new powertrain options – Nu 2.0L MPI and Gamma 1.6L Turbo GDI – and is reinforced with 53 per cent of Advanced High- Strength Steel for strengthening its chassis.
“We are also proud to reveal that this sixth generation Elantra has comprehensive safety features such as 6 airbag system, along with Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, Traction Control, and ABS.
“Additional safety technologies include Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist (for Elantra Sport only), a rear-view camera, Parking Guidance System, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and Hill-start Assist Control,” said Lau.
Apart from that, the new Elantra also has what is known as Intelligent Technology and Convenient Features.
It has segment- exclusive Handsfree Smart Trunk which allows Elantra drivers to conveniently open the boot if their hands are full by simply approaching the rear of the vehicle with the key fob in a purse or pocket.
An audible beep will sound three times, and the boot will automatically open, making it easy to place items in the cargo area.
