Debut trailer unleashed for ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’

-

SONY has unleashed the first trailer for its upcoming action comedy blockbuster “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”.

The film is a belated follow-up to the beloved 1995 feature — which starred comedian Robin Williams in the lead role of Alan Parrish — and stars a new group of kids who stumble upon the supernatural game whilst on after- school detention.

The bizarre journey begins when four teenagers — Spencer (Alex Wolff), Fridge ( Ser’Darius Blain), Bethany ( Madison Iseman), and Martha ( Morgan Turner) — find an old video game in a school storage room. When they choose their in- game avatars and press start, they find themselves transported into the savage world of Jumanji, trapped in the bodies of the characters they chose.

As the trailer gives away, this is where the comedic twist really comes into its own, as the group realise that they have all morphed into avatars they choose — trapped in the bodies of adult characters, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan.

“Welcome to the Jungle” also stars Nick Jonas and Bobby Cannavale, with direction by Jake Kasdan. Producers are Matt Tolmach and William Teitler, with exec producers David Householter, Jake Kasdan, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Ted Field, Mike Weber and Chris Van Allsburg.

The film is set for release in theatres on Dec 22.
