LIMBANG: The spirit of unity among residents is one of the key contributing factors in the development of any neighbourhood, says Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Bukit Kota assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.

He believes that if all residents come together as one, it would be much easier for the authorities to approve and implement any project slated for their benefit.

“The residents of Batu Biah have shown such spirit of togetherness. I hope that they would maintain this great relationship between members of the multi-racial communities here,” he told reporters during a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering at Batu Biah People’s Housing Scheme ( RPR) here on Sunday night, where he was accompanied by RPR Batu Biah headman Samsuddin Ahmad who was also the event organising chairman.

The get-together was held at the neighbourhood’s recreation hall, which housed over 500 guests that night. Dr Abdul Rahman also hoped that residents of other neighbourhoods including villages would continue to work together with their respective security and development committees (JKKKs), the neighbourhood committee ( KRT) and also the government in running various activities.

“Unity and cooperation between the residents need to be upheld. It is difficult for them to see progress if these two aspects are absent,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman also took the opportunity to thank the residents of Batu Biah for their strong support that had helped him retain Bukit Kota uncontested in the state election last year.

“With such mandate, it enables me to channel government grants andalso projects to my constituents. RPR Batu Biah, for instance, has been receiving allocations slated for many facilities such as its surau, futsal field, skateboard arena and basketball court,” he said.
