KUCHING: The demise of former Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office ( Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman will be strongly felt by the people in Sarawak, especially by his former constituents.

According to Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, Daud’s demise was shocking as the latter did not show signs of illness when they met recently.

He said he was shocked to hear the news as Daud was jovial when they met, after having recovered from stroke.

“We have lost a leader who put forward the needs of the people, and not to forget his work in Muslims affairs in Sarawak.

“His passing will be greatly felt by the people,” Dr Sim said when met at Daud’s residence on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Law, Federal- State Relations and Project Monitoring Assistant Minister Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali said she strongly felt the loss of the late Daud, whom she described as someone she always sought advice from.

“Our family always visited his family during Hari Raya and we had a lot of memories serving our constituencies together. The state owes a lot to him for his work,” she added.

As a senior politician, Sharifah Hasidah pointed out, Daud had assisted her a lot, especially during her early years in politics.

Meanwhile, Parti Islam SeMalaysia ( PAS) state commissioner Jofri Jaraie also expressed his sadness at Daud’s demise.

“We in PAS Sarawak offer our condolences to his family and may Allah grant him forgiveness and a place in Jannah,” said Jofri.
