Dayak NGOs to hold dialogue session on NCR land

-

SIBU: The Dayak National Institute ( Dani) and the Dayak Dudong Association ( PDD) will hold a dialogue session on native customary rights ( NCR) land on July 8 at Rumah Berendam Seliang in Durin Kiba near here.

Dani has organised a forum on NCR land issues titled “The Hidden Truth” in March in line with the Sarawak NCR Tour Series which is part of Dani’s programme.

The response to the forum was encouraging and this inspired the institute to organise similar programmes in rural areas.

In a media statement yesterday, PDD president Julius Enchana, who is also the organiser, said PDD was grateful for the opportunity to organise the programme in partnership with Dani.

According to Julius, PDD actively conducts community activities in rural areas. It has held dialogue sessions on education and development which received overwhelming response from the people.

“We focus on the NCR land issue this time around as the current state of development surrounding NCR land is at a crucial stage.

“This issue has also received various reactions from various parties. This is in line with the Sarawak government’s intention to make a decision on the definition of Pemakai Menua (ancestral boundary) and Pulau Galau (community forest reserve) at the November state assembly sitting.
