RM20,000 for Muslim education fund
I laud the Muslim community here for their initiative to set up the trust fund to help Muslim students pursue their studies.
KAPIT: Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat each contributed RM10,000 for the setting-up of an education trust fund for the Muslim community here.
Nanta made the announcement when officiating at a Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri event jointly organised by Kampung Baru security and development committee and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) Kampung Baru branch at Dewan Masyarakat Melayu here on Tuesday evening.
“I laud the Muslim community here for their initiative to set up the trust fund to help Muslim students pursue their studies,” he said.
The Kapit MP also promised to look into requests by the event organising committee for the purchase of canopies and

sewing machines for smallscale traders, as well as the proposal to renovate the community hall.
Event organising chairman Cr Mohd Illahi Junaidi said the education trust fund aims to cater for the educational needs of the Muslim community at Kampung Baru, Kampung Muhibbah and the new Malay settlement scheme at Bleteh.
Meanwhile, Nanta and Jamit also announced a grant of RM5,000 each to the organising committee of the Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri celebration, and presented ‘duit raya’ to senior citizens and children at the event, which was attended by some 300 members of the Muslim community.
Among those present were Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong Punan, deputy Resident Galong Luang, Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit, Penghulu Sia Shui Poh, Penghulu Wong Kie Ing, Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo, Kapitan Kong Cheak Hie, as well as heads of the various government departments.
