Song Joong-ki to marry co-star Song Hye-kyo in October
SEOUL: Just days after denying they had vacationed together in Bali, Descendants of the Sun stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo have announced that they are to marry on Oct 31.
Explaining this open deception, publicists at their agencies said: “Since marriage is also between families — as well as between individuals — they had to be careful. ... The two had to be cautious (about their relationship) until it bore fruit in matrimony.”
The Songs had portrayed a fictional couple in the smash-hit TV series Descendants of the Sun, with the groom-to-be playing a heartthrob military captain and his future bride taking on the role of a doctor and his love interest.
Last year, the two shared the grand prize at the KBS Drama Awards, as well as the award for best couple.
Rumours that they were dating subsequently surfaced, fuelled by reports of the two being seen together in New York. While they claimed it was mere coincidence, other reports of the couple being seen together also popped up.
Song Joong-ki, 32, debuted in 2008 and blossomed to stardom in 2010’s Sungkyunkwan Scandal before his meteoric rise after starring in Descendants.
Song Hye-kyo, three years his senior, debuted in 1996 as a model before expanding her range to acting. She left a lasting impression on the public through her gig in ‘90s hit sitcom

Attention is now turning toward a luxury house that Song Joong-ki bought in January, which may be the couple’s new home.
In January, he had bought a two- storey house with a basement in Itaewon- dong, Seoul for 10 billion won ( RM38.3 million). The house has a total floor area of 371.7 square metres and sits on land measuring 602 square metres.
