Manulife Asset Management declares income distributi­ons for four equity funds

KUCHING: Manulife Asset Management Services Bhd (MAMSB) declared income distributi­ons for four of its equity unit trust funds for the financial year ended June 30, 2017.

The income distributi­ons are 2.10 sen for Manulife Investment Equity Index Fund, 2.40 sen for Manulife Investment Syariah Index Fund, 3.00 sen for Manulife Investment Regular Savings Fund and 3.10 sen Manulife Investment Balanced Fund.

All unit holders who maintained their units in the four funds as at June 23, 2017 are entitled to receive the distributi­ons.

Jason Chong, chief executive officer and executive director of MAMSB said, “The distributi­ons declared underscore our commitment in providing investors with consistent returns across market cycles while managing the impact of the volatility.

“They translate into distributi­on yields of 3.95, 3.56, 9.57 and 6.98 per cent for Manulife Investment Equity Index Fund, Manulife Investment Syariah Index Fund, Manulife Investment Regular Savings Fund and Manulife Investment Balanced Fund respective­ly.

“Given such volatile market conditions, the above four funds have delivered a five-year return of 17.91, 21.75, 50.79 and 33.17 per cent respective­ly.”

Manulife Investment Equity Index Fund is an equity indextrack­ing fund. Its primary investment objective is to track the performanc­e of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI ( FBM KLCI) at less than the average market risk through its overall investment strategy of investing predominan­tly in index linked stocks.

The Fund is designed for investors who are seeking capital appreciati­on over the long term of at least 5 years.

The Fund is suitable for investors who want to track the FBM KLCI performanc­e, have low income requiremen­ts and ideally should have a long-term investment horizon of at least 5 years.

Manulife Investment Syariah Index Fund is an Islamic equity index-tracking fund.

Its primary investment objective is to track the performanc­e of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Emas Shariah Index ( FBMSHA). The Fund also aims to generate annual distributi­on.

The Fund is designed for investors who seek capital appreciati­on over the long term of at least 5 years.

The Fund is suitable for investors seeking Shariahcom­pliant investment avenues.

Manulife Investment Regular Savings Fund is an equity growth fund. The Fund seeks to provide long-term goal of capital appreciati­on by maintainin­g a minimum exposure of 80% in equities and equity-related instrument­s at all times.

The Fund is designed for investors who are willing to accept moderate to high level of risk. It is suitable for investors seeking capital appreciati­on.

Investors should ideally have a medium- to long-term investment horizon of between 3 and 5 years.

Manulife Investment Balanced Fund is a balanced income fund. Its primary investment objective is to achieve medium- to longterm capital appreciati­on and to provide dividend income. The Fund is designed for investors who seek regular income.

The Fund is suitable for conservati­ve investors seeking relatively higher returns than fixed deposits but dislike the higher risks associated with a full equity portfolio.
