ECS ICT eyes higher revenue in 2H17
KUALA LUMPUR: ECS ICT Bhd, an information and communications technology (ICT) products distributor, expects to rake in a higher revenue in the second half of this year boosted by strong sales partly due to the launch of new DJI’s pocket camera drone, called Spark.
Chief executive officer, Soong Jan Hsung, said Spark was likely to outperform the selling of many other models given its competitive price and strong features.
“We are a distributor for over 40 brands in Malaysia with DJI being a significant contributor to our revenue and bottomline for the past two years.
“We expect thousands of units (of Spark) to be sold within the next three months,” he told Bernama after launching the product yesteroday.
In the first quarter ended March 31, 2017, ECS’s revenue rose to RM460.09 million from RM434.72 million in the same quarter last year.
Soong said DJI brand was one of the biggest contributors to the group’s revenue and expected it to remain for this year.
DJI is the world leader in civilian drones as well as aerial imaging technology and accounts for 70 per cent market share globally.
In Malaysia, DJI’s products are solely distributed by ECS. The group’s is also the authorised service centre for DJI products and will offer both warranty and after-sales services.
It has already offered different products from DJI including the Phantom 4 Professional, Phantom 4 Advance, Goggles, Mavic Pro, Osmo +, Osmo Mobile, Inspire 1 and Inspire 2, which all have been well- received by local customers.
On the Spark, he said, it would be immediately available at all ECS’s 50 authorised stores nationwide including its flagship stores in Plaza Low Yat, Suria KLCC and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
It would be priced at RM2,288 while the Spark Fly More Combo, which comes with additional accessories and batteries, worth RMRM3,188
“With DJI Spark, we believe there will be more interested retailer wants to represent our brand in the market,” he said, adding the group eyed more stores to be opened in the future.
Spark is the first drone that users can control by hand gestures alone. It fits easily in almost any bag and weigh just 300 grammes. — Bernama
