Tupong Jaya fire victims will have houses rebuilt – MP
KUCHING: Petra Jaya MP Datuk Fadilah Yusof says he will find ways to help the Kampung Tupong Jaya fire victims have their totally destroyed houses rebuilt.
He said together with Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, they would find how the private sector could contribute to the victims, especially to rebuild their totally destroyed homes.
“We are trying to get someone or the private sector, through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, to help rebuild those houses that were totally destroyed, on top of some financial assistance that they have received from us and other concerned members of the public.
“Before this, the affected families have also received some financial assistance from Persatuan Kabajikan Petra Jaya through its chairperson, the chief minister’s wife,” he told reporters after handing over financial assistance to the victims Friday.
Fadillah also witnessed other organisations such as Malaysian Red Crescent, Special Affairs Dept(JASA), Badan Amal dan Kebajikan Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (Bakti) and IKRAM Malaysia, to hand over their donation in kinds to the fire victims.
Fadillah thanked them all for their donation in cash and in kinds.
“This is the spirit and strength of Sarawakians - caring for each other,” he said.
