Over 300 from hardware, machinery sector attend Forum 2017
KUCHING: Businesses today must embrace digital technologies and keep innovating to compete and thrive in the fast-evolving digital age.
Kuching and Kota Samarahan Division Hardware and Machinery Merchants Association chairman Law Nai Chiok pointed out that companies must have the ability to adapt as technology changes in order to remain relevant in a constantly changing environment.
“The competition in the market is getting tougher and stiffer so we need to embrace the digital world to gain a competitive edge so to stay ahead and grow our business,” he said in his opening address at the Hardware Nite and Forum 2017 held at Imperial Hotel here yesterday.
Over 300 participants from the hardware, machinery and building material sectors across Sarawak, Sabah and Peninsula Malaysia attended the one-day event.
Law hoped that participants will benefit from the numerous talks presented by key speakers at the forum.
Entrepreneur and motivational speaker Dato Dr Azman Ching stressed the need to change and transform or risk being eliminated or left behind in this digital age.
For businesses and companies to sustain, survive or better still succeed in this challenging era, he said the key was by being distinctive or different from others.
“You can’t deny that ecommerce and the digital world have provided wonderful opportunities for many people. You may feel the pressure but it is a good thing because pressure is a step to success,” he told the crowd.
Using the Chinese word ‘win’ to illustrate, he reminded that communication and people relationship was an important key to success in businesses.
“To be different, you have to think out of the box. You must be brave and daring enough. If you want to achieve something you have never achieved, do something you have never done,” he said.
