JW AirFlow Yoga Studio offers anti-gravity yoga workout
SIBU: JW AirFlow (TM) Yoga Studio next to the Sungai Merah Riverfront-facing main road offers the much talked about Airflow Yoga which is a new evolution of the anti-gravity yoga, designed to bring safe and effective workout from basic to advanced yoga practtioners.
According to James Wong of JW AirFlow Yoga Studio, they provide a safe and effective workout with well-thought sequence of flow exercises from foundational workouts to building strength on the weak areas of the body and eventually bring your strength to the next level of workout, backbends, balancing and inversion.
Wong is a yoga trainer affiliated with Yoga Alliance (USA), the Stott Pilates Instructor - Injury and Special Population (Rehabilitation), Yoga Anatomy Teacher Trainer, a Certified Spinal Manual Therapist (Perth Western Australia)specialising on physio-exercises, spine manipulation and nerve rehabilitation and a Myofascia trigger point and Advanced Movement Release Therapist @ IICT (International Institute of Complementary Therapists associate member)
His other certifications included the Les Mills-certified Body Balance, the Les Mills Certified Body Pump and the Les Mills Certified CXWORX.
“Among the top health benefits of Airflow Yoga include the total body workout - due to the nature of Airflow Yoga movements, almost all the body parts are forced to move and stretch. Muscles are toned and redefined, and joints are regenerated and strengthened due to these movements.
“Besides that, its psychologically beneficial - just like almost any other workout, Airflow Yoga helps rebuild your emotional system because it clears the mind and relieves stress due to its meditative state. It also helps you combat stress throughout the day and increases your creativity, which leads you to develop your own artistic skills,’’ he added.
Wong said it also gives a spinal therapy and heals back problems
“It gives you the chance to hang freely, allowing your spine to lengthen. With less strain on your back while doing the exercises, it eases tension in the spinal cord and hip joint, helping you feel better. Airflow Yoga hammocks bring the benefit to open the thoracic region of the spine and thus create lengthening on the lower back to relieve backache.
“JW AirFlow Yoga delivers the nerve therapy stretches - as we age our nerves will tend to shrink. With our types of therapeutic approach on the nerves; Airflow Yoga allows the nerves to have the sufficient amount of stretching and brings good blood circulations flowing into our different meridian points of the body.
“By being involved in JW AirFlow Yoga puts you in a great mood — another key benefit of doing Airflow yoga is that it gets your adrenaline going while going against gravity. It also releases ‘happy’ hormones like serotonin, endorphins, oxytocin, dopamine, which boost your mood and help you feel more energetic,” he said.
Wong owns a registered Yoga Alliance School where he offers 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teachers Training (two intakes each year in Malaysia). Wong can be reached at jamespilates@gmail.com for more details.
