“The showcase will incorporate music, dance and drama revolving around Malay entertainment legend Tan Sri P. Ramlee, as well as Sarawak folk songs by members of the P. Ramlee Sarawak Fan Club. We do hope that from the event, we could expose Sarawak talents to outsiders,” he said during a press conference on the programme conducted before the final rehearsal of the musical at DBP Sarawak Auditorium in Petra Jaya here Friday evening.

“The event in Kuala Lumpur will also feature talk by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who will share with the participants his experience in developing Sarawak. The session will take place the DBP Auditorium Kuala Lumpur.

“His presentation will be an interesting one, as he will share with the audience how he had changed the economic and developmental landscape of Sarawak – a melting pot of various races,” he said, adding that Taib and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib would be the guests- of- honour.

The event in Penang, said Adi, would be held at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Auditorium, where Penang Head of State Datuk Seri Utama Abdul Rahman Abbas and his wife Datuk Seri Utama Majimor Shariff would be the guests- of- honour.

On DBP, Adi said since its formation 40 years ago, it had been playing an instrumental role in empowering the national language and literature and at the same time, lifting the standards of Bahasa Malaysia among Sarawakians.

“We do hope that the effort would enable those with the same passion and interest in language, arts and literature to meet, understand and learn the beautiful arts and culture of Sarawak, and also to further bridge the gap between Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia,” he said.
