SMK St Teresa’s Sonorama concert raises RM70,000 for rebuilding fund
KUCHING: SMK St Teresa raised about RM70,000 through a Sonorama concert held at the Archdiocesan Curia and Cathedral Pastoral Centre’s (ACCPC) grand hall here last Friday night.
The concert was part of the school’s effort to raise the much needed RM8.2 million to rebuild the school block and a hall which were burnt down on Oct 29 last year. The concert also provided an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and develop their potentials.
The fund-raising concert was participated by students from the school’s Choir, Dance and Cultural Club as well as the Symphonic Band, and accompanied by graceful ballet dancers from LayNa Ballet Academy. They delivered a beautiful and astonishing performance as the large crowd let out a rousing and thunderous cheer from time-to-time.
The fund raised from the Sonorama concert came from the sales of tickets as well as contribution from a few main sponsors, namely Tokio Marine Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd, RHB Insurance Bhd and AmGeneral Insurance Bhd.
The school has so far managed to raise about RM2.92 million including contributions from the state government, private organisations, individuals and proceeds from fund-raising activities. The school hopes to get more support from the public so that they could raise another RM5.3 million to meet their target.
