Ken gallery showcases more than 100 Malaysian artists’ pieces

PETALING JAYA: Over a hundred pieces of artwork by well-known Malaysian artists are showcased at the newly establishe­d Ken Gallery in Menara Ken Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), here starting Friday night.

Ken Holdings Berhad chairman, Datuk Kenny BK Tan said the gallery takes up to 20,000 square feet space for four halls with different sections namely Main Hall, The Trail, Oriental Pavilion and a conservati­on centre.

“When we talk about the value of arts and culture to society, we want to cherish its intrinsic value on how arts and culture can illuminate our inner lives and enrich our emotional world.

“With a collection that begins from the early 50s, it offers a view of not just the diverse talent of Malaysian artists but also the significan­ce of the narratives, aesthetic languages, thoughts and emotions that are unique to the Malaysian experience,” he told Bernama during the official opening of the gallery, here last night.

Tan said the Main Hall consists of his collection­s which displayed only the pieces of local artists, among whom, are Dzulkifli Buyong, Datuk Chuah Thean Teng, Chan Kok Hooi, Abdul Latiff Mohidin and Ahmad Zakii Anwar.

He said the public are invited to come to this gallery which opens every Monday to Saturday from 11am until 6pm with free entrance.
