KUALA LUMPUR: Forty motorcyclists on high-powered motorcycles participated in the ‘Jelajah 1 Jiwa’ expedition organised by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) in conjunction with its 50th anniversary celebration.

The convoy of motorcyclists, who included Bernama staff, will go to all states in the peninsula during which they would visit the news agency’s bureau offices and homes of its veteran journalists.

Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Azman Ujang said the week-long expedition, sponsored by Mforce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd, was aimed at, among others, to enlighten the public on the actual role of Bernama in its reporting of domestic and foreign issues for the interests of Malaysians.

“I hope this Jelajah will bring Bernama closer to the people, after all we have been reporting about the nation’s & rakyat’s affairs without a break for half a century.

“The people’s interests are our interests as well,” he told reporters after sending off the convoy at the compound of Wisma Bernama here yesterday.

Earlier in his speech, Azman reminded participants on accidents involving motorcyclists and advised them to always give priority to safety.

Meanwhile, Mforce Bike also sponsored five Benelli high-powered motorcycles, comprising three TRK502 and two 302R for use by participants in the expedition. — Bernama
