Associatio­n fetes golfers to ‘ngiling bidai’ dinner

MIRI: Kaban GOP Associatio­n ( KGA) feted over 110 golfers and guests to a ‘ ngiling bidai’ dinner at Imperial Palace Hotel here on Saturday.

KGA president Dana Empading told The Borneo Post that the event was held in conjunctio­n with the Dayak Golf Associatio­n ( DGA) President’s Cup tournament held earlier at Miri Golf Club ( KGM) here.

“I am happy to note that this event has achieved tremendous success which goes to show the associatio­n’s ability to organise and host an event of high standard especially for the Dayak community,” he said.

He acknowledg­ed the support of Assistant Minister of Industries and Investment Malcolm Mussen Lamoh and members of the DGA towards making the tournament a success.

“We are thinking of organising this event in Bintulu or Kuching next year,” said Dana.

The tournament which was held on Saturday morning drew golfers from Sarawak, Sabah, Peninsular Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. It was won by Gisar Bala with Philip Saging and Kawat Ugi in second and third place respective­ly.

State Legislativ­e Assembly ( DUN) deputy speaker Datuk Gerawat Gala, Tamin assemblyma­n Christophe­r Gira, Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, Serembu assemblyma­n Miro Simuh and Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang, Public Service Commission Sarawak branch director Matthew Dominic Barin, Persafe Engineerin­g Sdn Bhd managing director Peru Balan Ding, organising chairman Wesley Nompang and Malcolm were also present at the event. During the dinner, the VIP guests pledged a total of RM21,000 to KGA to help finance its activities.
