Emulate ‘Service Above Self’ motto at all times — Dr Sim
KUCHING: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian wants all working Sarawakians to emulate Rotary International’s motto of ‘Service Above Self’ at all times.
Speaking during the Rotary Club of Kuching Central ( RCKC)’s 32nd Installation Dinner organised at a local hotel here recently, he said he believed that by doing so, one can make an impact in whatever one does.
“If we give the best service to others, then it is meaningful as we are making the world a better place. I believe all Sarawakians are like that and that is why I am proud to be a Sarawakian,” he added.
Apart from that, Dr Sim also hoped that Sarawakians would view being able to do things for others as a privilege, and not see it as a burden.
The event saw Benjamin Lo installed as the new RCKC president who promised to help the club achieve greater heights during his tenure.
Still in his 30s, he is currently the youngest ever to be elected as RCKC president.
“While I am extremely honoured to be handed the reins to this distinguished club, I am also deeply humbled by this appointment. It is not a position and an appointment that I take lightly,” said Lo.
