Veterans associatio­n seeks permanent grant from state government

KUCHING: The Sarawak Rangers Veterans Associatio­n (SRVA) has requested the state government allocate it a permanent grant.

SRVA secretary- general Capt ( Rtd) Mohd Johari Ibrahim said this was decided during SRVA’s firstannua­l generalmee­ting(AGM) and election on Wednesday.

“Many resolution­s were presented and passed, one of which is the request for permanent government allocation to help us maintain administra­tion and also ensuring that our members’ welfare is taken care of adequately,” he said.

Johari explained SRVA is open to all veterans, regardless which corps they belong to, adding the associatio­n is intensifyi­ng efforts to recruit former Iban Trackers.

“Come and register with us so that we can look after your predicamen­t and welfare,” he said.

Some 60 registered members attending the AGM and election unanimousl­y elected Temenggong Wilfred Billy Panyau as president and Tuai Rumah Michael Ancho Tabor as deputy president, while Johari was retained as secretary-general.
