UCA Sibu eyes world record for largest photo album

According to Chieng, the current record is held by the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, which presented a photo album measuring 4.5m by 5.5m at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on June 4, 2013.
“That photo album had 18 pages – 16 of which holding 210 rare and historical photographs of the late Sheikh Zayed Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE. It was part of a ‘Touch of Fulfilment’ event for people with special needs,” he said.
Chieng said it took UCA Sibu five months to compile the photos for the giant album.
“Our measurements taken this (yesterday) morning come to 5.1m by 5.2m. The 22 pages (excluding the covers) hold 608 A2-sized photos of 12 UCA Sibu chairmen, 15 Sibu UCA Youth chiefs and 14 Sibu UCA Women chiefs.
“There are also photos of activities ran throughout the term of each presidents.”
The thorough measurements were witnessed by Tiong – also Dudong assemblyman Hii Chang and Kong.
Chieng said after yesterday’s ceremony, his side would submit all the required information to the committee of Guinness World Records for verifications on its attempt in the ‘World’s Largest Photo Album’ category.
“It is only after passing the strict verification process that the Guinness World Records would present us with the certificate,” he pointed out, adding that UCA Sibu submitted its application to Guinness World Records last December.
