EPF to hold two-day roadshow at tHe Spring

-

KUCHING: The Employee Provident Fund ( EPF) will hold a two- day roadshow this weekend at tHe Spring Shopping Mall from 10am to 5pm.

From 10am tomorrow, the EPF Mobile Team booth will offer services such as checking of account balance, naming of beneficiaries, and open walk-in registration for talks.

The Retirement Advisory Services ( RAS) booth will give consultations, while strategic partner Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency’s (AKPK) booth will offer debt management counseling.

Retirement Talk 01: ‘Retirement Advisory Services ( RAS) – Your First Step To Retirement Planning’ by the EPF Sarawak RAS officer will be from 10.30am to noon.

Retirement Talk 02: ‘ EPF Withdrawals and Online Service Channels – Go Online and Explore e- Pengeluaran’ will be from 12.30pm to 1.10pm.

Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip is scheduled to launch the event at 3pm.

EPF chief executive officer Datuk Sharilridza Ridzuan is also expected to attend.

The third talk – ‘ Debt Management – Why It Affects Your Retirement’ by AKPK’s representative will be from 4.30pm to 5pm.

On Sunday, all three talks will be repeated at 11am to 11.30am, noon to 12.30pm, and 2.30pm to 3pm respectively.

The EPF and RAS mobile booths will open from 10am to 5pm.

In between all the events will be short breaks with DJ quizzes offering attractive prizes.

EPF has been actively conducting talks on retirement nationwide to highlight potential issues concerning ageing, given that Malaysia is rapidly moving towards becoming an aged nation by 2030 – when 15 per cent of the population will comprise the elderly.

This will give rise to several economic consequences such as increase in costs to address the needs of an ageing population in terms of healthcare and social assistance.

With longer life expectancy at 75 years, EPF believes Malaysians need more savings to finance a longer retirement period.

How to prepare for a dignified retirement and avoid outliving retirement savings are imminent personal and social issues that concern every member of society.

As such, planning to achieve financial goals means having the right financial knowledge to plan for retirement.
