St Joseph’s School Run 2017 on Sept 24 to raise funds

-

MIRI: A charity run to raise funds for the development of St Joseph’s primary and secondary schools here will be held this Sept 24.

Organised by Miri St Joseph’s Alumni Association, the St Joseph’s School Run 2017 will start and end at Marina Parkcity. The flag- off for the 8.5km run will be at 6.15am, and the 4km at 6.30am.

“The objective of this inaugural run is to help raise funds for St Joseph primary and secondary schools in Miri. We aim to gather over 1,000 runners – the more the merrier,” said organising chairperson Corliss Chang at a press conference here on Thursday, where SMK St Joseph principal Ng Meng Heong was also present.

“We are also raising money to help fund a new multi-purpose school hall. The old hall is too small due to the increase in number of students at both schools,” Ng said, adding that there are almost 2,000 students in both schools.

He said the school is looking forward to develop lots of things, including building more classrooms for children with special needs.

“We hope to achieve our target of RM4.5 million through various activities organised by the alumni association and the school for a study environment and good infrastructure that are more conducive to the children’s learning.

“We hope to start the project by 2020,” he added.
